Remembering Robert Skafte

Robert Skafte (he/him) was an 18-year member of Ballet of The Dolls performing countless original works and also worked with several choreographers and artists in the Twin Cities and beyond. He was a long-time resident of Loring Park where he helped run the Oak Grove Grocery and was the caretaker of his building. Originally from California, Robert is a gardener and urban farmer and helped create La Salle Community Gardens in 1997. In 2012, the Overlook Garden was transformed into a native habitat and continues to grow strong along 17th Street. In 2008, he created the Stevens Square Farmers Market and ran it’s operation until 2021. Robert was the Stevens Square Community Organization’s greening coordinator since 2004 until 2023. We love and remember him in all that we do.
