Thank you for your interest in joining the Stevens Square Community Organization Board.
What is the SSCO Board of Directors?
The Stevens Square Community Organization board of directors serve the neighborhood by helping to develop programs and make policy decisions in the areas of safety, housing & development, community greening, and outreach and community events. We seek to maintain a board of diverse voices.
Please visit the SSCO Board of Directors page, to learn about who currently serves on the SSCO Board.
What does the Board of Directors do?
Board members attend monthly board and committee meetings, discuss and vote on important neighborhood issues, conduct outreach to the community, assist with fundraising for the organization, and volunteer to produce events and activities benefiting the neighborhood.
Visit our blog post on volunteer leadership for a detailed description of eligibility and responsibilities.
Elected seats, with 2-year terms, can only be elected at a Community Member meeting, which we hold quarterly (every three months or so). To learn more about elected positions and how to be nominated, please contact us.
Appointed seats, with terms up to 1 year, are available throughout the year, and appointments can be made at any regular Board meeting (which are held monthly). If appointed, you will hold that seat until the next Community Member Annual Meeting, which is held in June each year. Appointments are a great way to try out Board leadership with less commitment. The application for Board appointments are available online here: https://forms.gle/1nSSep3yYqN6bD669. Please contact us with any questions.
If you have additional questions, would like a paper copy of the application, or any assistance completing the application, please contact SSCO at firstname.lastname@example.org or 612-874-2840.
