To be eligible to vote for the SSCO Board members, you must be able to demonstrate you are a resident or represent a local business. Please bring either (1) your current ID (such as a driver’s license) with an address in Stevens Square neighborhood; or (2) an ID from a previous address, along with a current utility bill or other document (such as a lease) showing your name and current address within Stevens Square neighborhood. Census and Elections:
What is the census? Why does it matter? Why should you care? And what can you do about it? These are the questions that Andrew Virden, our guest speaker, who is also a Stevens Square residents will address in his presentation. Andrew is the Director of Census Operations and Engagement in April 2018. In his role, Andrew’s work applies his knowledge of the Census, including recruiting and field operations, as well as experience community organizing to help ensure Minnesota gets an accurate count for Census Day on April 1, 2020.
Learn how to participate in a busy election year for Minneapolis, starting with the March 3 Presidential Nomination Primary. This is the first Presidential Primary held in Minnesota since 1992. Jeff Narabrook from Minneapolis Elections & Voter Services will explain why the primary is happening and explain some of its unique features. He’ll also touch on the August Primary and November General Election, and discuss how you can help prepare your neighbors to vote.
Proposed Reallocation of Phase II NRP Funds:
The SCCO Board proposes to modify the Stevens Square Phase II NRP plan to allow the use of up to $146,176.52 for loans for affordable housing projects in other neighborhoods in Minneapolis. Repaid loans would be returned to the Stevens Square NRP fund allocation and would be eligible for additional projects.
