Community Safety Meeting – August 2019
August 22 @ 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
Stevens Square Community Organization, the official organization serving the Stevens Square-Loring Heights neighborhood, invites you to our August Community Safety Meeting.
Everyone is welcome to attend and participate!
***Please note the new meeting location.**
Minneapolis Police will provide the latest public information about the report of a person shot and killed on Sunday, August 18, inside a building at 1904 1st Ave South. Preliminary investigation yields that this does not appear to be a random act of violence.
We will also follow up on issues raised at the July meeting, including complaints about criminal activity in the portable biff at the park and intruders at the vacant rooming house on the 1800 block of 4th Ave.
6:00 Introductions and announcements
6:05 Updates from Minneapolis Police, 5th Precinct Community Attorney, and Neighborhood Probation Officer, with time for questions and answers
6:35 Discussion: What is the purpose of the Community Safety committee and what does it do?
6:50 Neighborhood-related safety ideas and concerns: open discussion
7:15 Block Patrol news
7:25 Safety coordinator report
Starting in August, Community Safety Meetings will be held at our new location at 1900 Nicollet Avenue in room 215 (use the main entrance from the parking lot on the LaSalle Ave side of the building). We are excited to be sharing a building with our neighbors at Plymouth Congregational Church. This building is accessible to wheelchairs; please let us know if you need any other accommodations to participate.
